Brand review · #3 on our India ranking
Mezame names the specific Kagoshima cultivar on every product, which is rarer in India than it should be. It is also, at the time of writing, the brand most visibly ranking for “best matcha brand in India” with a post it published about itself.
| Origin | Kagoshima, Japan |
| Grade as labelled | Ceremonial |
| Price | From ₹1,200 / 30 g |
| Price per gram | ₹40/g |
| Our score | 8.3 / 10, ranked #3 of 14 |
| Disclosure score | 4 / 6 against our six criteria |
Scored against the six criteria we publish for every brand. “Not disclosed” is not an accusation, it is a fact about the label.
| Attribute | What the brand states | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Kagoshima | Disclosed |
| Cultivar | Named on every SKU | Disclosed, and unusual |
| Harvest | First harvest claimed | Brand claim |
| Certification | JAS organic claimed | Brand claim, certificate number not published |
| Testing | Multi-parameter testing claimed | Brand claim, no results published |
| Pack or mill date | Not published | Not disclosed |
Good matcha and genuinely useful labelling, held back by claims that are asserted rather than evidenced. If Mezame published its JAS certificate number and one test report, it would move up this list.
A brand ranking for “best matcha brand in India” with its own blog post is not doing anything wrong. But it is why a page like this one exists: the first result for that query should not be written by a company describing itself.
How this page was made. Prices and pack sizes were collected from the brand’s own site and Indian marketplaces and verified on 15 August 2026. Disclosure is scored only on what the brand publishes, not on what it tells us privately. Where a claim is the brand’s own and we could not verify it, the table says so. We hold no paid relationship with any brand on this site, and any free sample is stated on the entry itself. See our testing methodology and editorial policy.
Mezame, or anyone else: if something here is wrong, tell us and we will correct it. If you publish a pack date or a heavy-metal panel, your disclosure score changes, and we would rather report that than not.
